Irish Defence Forces Open Day 2023

The Irish Defence Forces will host an Open Day this Saturday 29 July 2023, from 11am – 5pm in Farmleigh House, Phoenix Park, Dublin. This open day is a free event for all members of the public to attend.

Highlights on the day include: weapons displays, unarmed combat demonstrations, musical recitals by the Army Band, equitation school riders, recruitment stand, adventure training stand, Special Forces, SERE (Survival, Escape & Evasion, Resistance to Interrogation, Extraction) display, medical corps and military police interactive stands and capability demonstrations from the three services – Army, Naval Service and Air Corps.

If that’s not enough, there’ll be vehicle displays including vintage vehicles, cavalry and military motorbikes, MOWAGs (Armoured Personnel Carrier), an AW139 Air Corps Helicopter and Naval Service RHIBs.

There will also be a kids play area, a food market and music on the day.

It is an opportunity for the public to interact with Defence Forces personnel and equipment. So why not come down this Saturday, talk to our fantastic personnel and learn more about the work we do in the Irish Defence Forces!!!

Additionally Farmleigh House will be open for free walk-throughs of the ground floor from 11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm. Please note no prams or food & drink allowed in the house.

Parking

There will be no parking on site in Farmleigh House on the day of the event. There are plenty of park and ride / walk options.

Bike parking for 200 bikes is available right in the heart of all the activities at Farmleigh House.

By Car
There is no parking for cars at the event so please use the following options which ALL must be pre-booked with the links below:

Reáchtálfaidh Óglaigh na hÉireann Lá Oscailte an Satharn seo an 29 Iúil ón 11am – 5pm i dTeach Farmleigh, Páirc an Fhionnuisce, Baile Átha Cliath. Imeacht saor in aisce é an lá oscailte seo le go mbeidh gach duine den phobal in ann a bheith i láthair.

I measc bhuaicphointí an lae, beidh: taispeántais ar airm, taispeántais ar chomhrac neamharmtha, ceadail cheoil ó Bhanna ceoil an Airm, marcaigh na scoile eachaíochta, seastán earcaíochta, seastán traenála eachtraíochta, na Fórsaí Speisialta, taispeántas ar SERE (Teacht Slán, Éalú & Imghabháil, Frithbheartaíocht in aghaidh Ceastóireachta, Astarraingt), seastáin idirghníomhacha ón gcór liachta agus ó phóilíní an airm agus taispeántais ar chumas ó na trí sheirbhís – an tArm, an tSeirbhís Chabhlaigh agus an tAerchór.

Mura mbeidh a dhóthain agat ansin, beidh taispeántais ar fheithiclí lena n-áirítear feithiclí seanré, macra agus gluaisrothair mhíleata, MOWAGanna (Iompróir Armúrtha Pearsanra), Héileacaptar AW139 an Aerchóir agus RHIBanna an Seirbhíse Cabhlaigh.
