Trees to Treasures is an exhibition showcasing excellence and innovation in furniture design, manufacture, technology and education by students, staff and graduates of the National Centre for Excellence in Furniture Design & Technology, School of Design & Creative Arts, Atlantic Technological University – based at the ATU Connemara campus.
The programmes delivered at the Connemara campus are renowned nationally and internationally for the exceptional quality of applied technological education in the fields of furniture, wood-product design and manufacture, teacher education, development, origination and creativity, fine furniture making and focused research. These programmes are dynamic, alert and responsive to the needs of industry, society and to the ongoing development of the Irish economy.
The exhibition focuses on transitioning of trees, one of the earth’s best renewable and sustainable resources, into beautiful and treasured creations. It explores growth, energy, imagination, skill and creative momentum of students and graduates. Influence is drawn from numerous sources, it embraces experience, aesthetics, functionality and the exceptional natural beauty of the campus’s location on the western coast of Ireland.
Trees to Treasures is an exhibition designed to demonstrate the role of creativity and education in achieving individual and collective potential.
