Virginia Kerr is one of Ireland’s most distinguished sopranos, equally well known on the operatic stage, concert and oratorio platform and as a recitalist. Her career includes celebrated performances on the stages of the world’s leading opera houses and concert halls and has taken her as far afield as Russia, Far East, Mexico and North and South America. Nearer home she has sung with the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opera North, Scottish Opera, Leipzig Opera and Glyndebourne Festival Opera to name but a few. She is a fine exponent of 2oth century music and has given numerous Irish and world premieres.
Virginia appears regularly as featured soloist with both the RTE National Symphony and RTE Concert Orchestras, on Friday Night is Music Night for BBC Radio 2 and has been a guest presenter for Lyric Fm. Her long awaited solo CD “My Heart and I” was launched in October 2007.

This evening’s performance includes a rich banquet of timeless jewels such as the much loved “O Holy Night” “Ave Maria” “Mille Cherubini” and Handel’s “Come unto Him” from The Messiah as well as some popular arias and songs from the world of art song, opera and operetta including Balfe’s “I dreamt that I dwelt in marble halls” Puccini’s “O mio babbino caro” and many other favourites from the soprano repertoire.
Virginia will be accompanied by pianist and conductor Robert Dean and will be joined by acclaimed actor Bill Golding who will perform seasonal readings and poetry for this evening of festive celebration.
