Welcome
Chairman of the Office of Public Works
It gives me great pleasure to introduce the details of this year's summer cultural programme of events at Farmleigh for 2010. The cultural programme has received overwhelming response from the public and cultural sector since 2001, and all have enjoyed and experienced the very unique and special ambience of the house and grounds. During the past few years Farmleigh has played host to a number of State visits including The Governor General of New Zealand, the Hon. Dame Silvia Cartwright, their Majesties King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway and the President of the Republic of Poland Mr. Lech Kaczynska in addition to a large range of Government functions.
For 2010, the cultural programme continues to develop in ways that both deepen and broaden public, cultural and scholarly enjoyment of the property. Projects and events across a range of disciplines are included from literature to the visual arts, from music to food and gardening. The programme stems from the unique ambience of Farmleigh and is aimed at sharing this extraordinary property with the broadest possible audience.
It gives me great pleasure to welcome so many important figures from Irish and international cultural life who will contribute to the public's experience of Farmleigh. I would urge you to make time to enjoy the experience of Farmleigh by applying for tickets to events or visiting on days of open events.
